Current Opening: IT Specialist
Help office and production employees own and be accountable for the IT tools they use to do their jobs. Provide technical management of IT systems. Work closely with the Operations Manager to provide excellent customer service to functional areas. Assist with operations knowledge work.
Highlighted Job Functions

Respond to issues from office and production employees, provide training and assistance, and smooth the user experience on:
- Mac OS desktops and laptops
- ERP software
- Remote access
- Telephones and voice mail
- Public website (Drupal)

Provide technical management of ERP software by:
- Maintaining list of desired feature use changes, giving input to Operations Manager, and assisting with implementation
- Customizing the system by writing queries, creating search tools, developing custom reports, and modifying screens, as assigned
- Modifying layout and formatting of built-in reports and forms, as assigned

Implement planned IT initiatives including:
- Windows server transition
- Windows Terminal Server & Apple Xserve implementation (possible)

Manage office and network technology resources and vendors, including
backup system (BackupExec or other), Intranet (Open Atrium), custom web applications (Microsoft IIS), email server (Exchange or other), security software (Symantec or other) -
Document the company’s IT systems by:
- Creating written procedures and step-by-step instructions for IT administration
- Creating step-by-step instructions and training materials for end-users

Ensure information security and integrity by:
developing, implementing, and testing disaster recovery program - Review and edit business process and quality system documentation as assigned; assist the Operations Manager with other administrative functions as needed
Highlighted Requirements and Qualifications
- Good communication skills, and ability to use verbal and written communication to provide excellent service in a diverse working environment
- Customer service orientation, a desire to provide effective support to non-technical people, and good problem solving skills
- Positive attitude, sense of humor, and ability to consistently exhibit courteous, patient, and professional behavior
- One to two years IT experience or equivalent training, including:
- Experience with Windows network administration and Active Directory; experience with Mac OS; experience with Mac OS Server preferred
- Experience with web and database technology; experience with Open Atrium, Drupal, PHP, MySQL, and Linux shell preferred
- Experience supporting Microsoft Word and Excel
- Software development experience preferred
- Ability to apply IT security principles
- Crystal Reports and manufacturing sector experience preferred
- Ability to work regular hours with environmental factors that would ordinarily be expected in an office, factory, and warehouse environment
- Ability to physically access systems and supplies in crowded server room
Other Information
- Criminal background check required
- Weekdays 9-5:30
- Evening on call (emergencies that can’t wait until 9 a.m.)
- Occasional evening/weekend hours for server work, etc.
- May include 10+ hours providing consulting services to other companies, which may require own transportation and occasional evening/weekend hours.
